Kickin Inn – Cajun Seafood Delight in Petersham

Cajun Seafood Delight Kickin Inn

Kickin Inn, located in Petersham, serves up a storm of cajun seafood served in style reminiscent of the Frogmore Stew in North Carolina. The stew originates from Frogmore, a small fishing community on St. Helena Island.
So what exactly is a Frogmore stew? Ironically this stew contains no frogs but involves boiling a mixture of seafood, sausages, potatoes, and corn in a spiced stew. The finished product is then sprawled across the dining table and served with lemon and cocktail sauce.

The Menu

Kickin Inn kicks it up a notch by combining this traditional dish with various cajun spices and seasoning. You can choose from five different sauces to pair with the seafood; Kajun, Garlic Kajun, Garlic Butter, Lemon Pepper or, a combination of all four of those mentioned above called the Sha-Bang.
Next, pick from the wide selection of seafood to go with the sauce. You can also choose sides such as potatoes, corn, and chorizo sausage to go in with the boil. You can also choose the spice level from original to seriously hot depending on how adventurous you are.

The table is then set with plastic covers in preparation for the feast, an indication perhaps of the messy feast that is to come. Another is the fact that we would be eating with gloves on.

The meals are then poured out from the bags onto the table. I had captured a video of this to visually show you the excitement we got when the food was served.
