Bourke Street Bakery Tarts Selection

bourke street bakery tart selection

The OG Bourke Street Bakery, located on 633 Bourke Street, was founded by Paul Allam and David McGuinness back in 2004. This little bakery has expanded to over twelve locations in Sydney alone and even a store in 28th Street of New York City.

The bakery offers almost every single baked good you can imagine. In my opinion, Bourke Street has the best sourdough bread in town. Craving for good old Aussie sausage rolls or meat pies? Bourke Street Bakery has you covered.

While the bakery has a nice variety, I visited with one purpose only, their tarts!. I have seen their ginger brûlée tart featured prominently on my Instagram feed, and it worked its marketing magic.

I arrived a little after lunch, and there was a bit of a queue going into the small bakery. That said, the line moved pretty quickly, and before I know it, there were decisions to be made. We ended up getting the ginger Brulee, the raspberry meringue, and the lemon curd tart (two of each since I don’t share desserts)

Verdict

Don’t get me wrong, all the tarts were good, but the superstar of them all has to be the ginger brûlée tart. The custard was thick but not too sweet. The layer of burnt sugar on the top of the dessert complimented the custard and the pastry perfectly. I was impressed; the tart lived up to all the social media hype. I would most definitely get it again.

Have you been to Bourke Street Bakery? If not, consider this a sign.
