Multiple Michelin Star winner Yat Lok Roast Goose

Located in the Central district is Yat Lok, an award winning restaurant selling roast goose in Hong Kong. Indeed, Yat Lok has won multiple Michelin Star awards over the years (2015 – 2019 consecutively) and its not all hype. The place is always full and you can definitely expect a queue during lunch and dinner times.

Although Yat Lok sells a variety of roast meats, their flagship dish is their roast goose. Roast Goose is a staple Hong Kong dish, a must-try when you’re in town.
I went to Yat Lok twice during my first visit to Hong Kong, and on both visits, I had a serving of the signature Roast Goose. The famous dish goes through over 20 preparatory steps before being chargrilled and served.

The roast duck leg was tender and juicy. The skin was slightly crispy, and the best part was that a lot of the goose fat and the marinating sauces had been absorbed by the rice.

I also had a serving of the BBQ pork on the side. The Yat Lok BBQ pork uses pork shoulder from Brazil for extra tenderness. The meat was very juicy and brought the same high level of flavors as the roast goose.

The Signature Roast Goose Leg

There are other roast meats and dishes on the menu you may want to try during your visit. Or perhaps you are visiting with a few other people and want to order a few different dishes to try. In this instance, you can consider ordering a whole or half roasted goose to try.

Yat Lok is worth every bit of the hype you read and hear, make it a priority to visit this Hong Kong institution when you’re in town.
