FinePrint Hong Kong is a well-known name in Hong Kong amongst the avid coffee lovers community. The brand has 3 locations in Central, Tai Hang, and Sai Ying Pun, respectively.
Scottie Callaghan founded Fineprint with a mission to bring the Australian coffee culture to Hong Kong. He identified a gap in the Hong Kong coffee scene; no venues were offering the Australian cafe experience where a friendly barista would not only take your order but remember it along with your name the next time you step into the cafe.
Scottie is the winner of the Australian Barista Champion in 2010, taking third place at the World Barista Championship. He was also the World Latte Art Championship winner in 2006. In other words, this man knows how to make a killer cup of coffee!. The coffee beans boast a mixture of beans freshly roasted in Hong Kong (their signature Peel Street Espresso Blend) and high-quality green coffee beans sourced from Sucafina.
The combination of good service and good product has helped FinePrint Hong Kong quickly gain a loyal following who know the staff and each other well.
Ambiance
I read up about the FinePrint before I visited Hong Kong (beginning of last year, not now, obviously) and knew I had to give it a go. I dropped by the Peel Street shop since I was staying in Central. The ambiance was exactly like an Australian cafe, right down to the customers’ very familiar accent.
The pastry and breakfast selection was also reminiscent of the same. The coffee was also on par with something you can get in Australia, bonus points for using Bonsoy. Missing Australian coffee in Hong Kong? Fineprint has got you covered.
I have also heard that the place transforms into a fantastic night tapas bar, something to check out on my next visit.
